The instrument will most likely need refurbishing to make this instrument playable again. This musical instrument is not represented to be in playing condition. The leather handle is off the case, not partially there as shown in a pic. The bell is 4-5/8″ across and the bell opening is 1-3/8″ across. The trumpet is 19.5″ long (21-9/16″ w/ the mouthpiece in place), by 6.25 wide. Kalashen was in business from 1895 to 1930 to help assist with dating the instrument. No marks that would impede play where the lips would make contact with the end. There is some scratching to the mouthpiece on the sides. A little out of round where inserts into the trumpet.

As noted, the mouthpiece is marked Kalashen as well. The trumpet also comes with a music holder. Nice emblazoning of the name and maker on the outside of the bell. Certainly some finish loss to the silver colored lacquer, but no pitting or corrosion to the material the trumpet is made of. The 3 valves operate smoothly and I have oiled the valve assemblies and cylinders to keep them from getting any corrosion, they are already quite clean. 4 of the 4 slides slide open and close as they should. Nice silver colored lacquer finish The trumpet has some finish loss and scratching, but still looks pretty good. Some research we found online said that this is an older Conn Stencil Trumpet, made for Kalashen and then distributed by Adams. The trumpet does come with a mouthpiece that has Kalashen marked on it as well. Also, has “Distributed by Wm F Adams Phila Pa” inscribed on the bell. Kalashen and Kleartone are emblazoned on the to the bell. Great vintage trumpet from M J Kalashen of New York, NY USA. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself! An Ebayer recently selected this item, but the trumpet did not meet their needs. Antique M J Kalashen Trumpet with Case & Mouthpiece.
